A few weeks back we shared the trailer for Neil Jordan's upcoming thriller GRETA starring Chloë Grace Moretz (CARRIE, KICK-ASS), Maika Monroe (IT Follows) and Isabelle Huppert (ELLE). That post came with a poster as well but it was kind of underwhelming being that it featured a purse hanging off of a fishhook. Meh, I say. But today we have a new poster for the movie and it's… not much better. But at least it's better. It's got a Giallo feel to it.
Now I know what you're thinking: If I'm not a fan of the poster, why share it? Well, that's because I'm really looking forward to this film. Jordan is one of my favorite directors out there as the man has helmed at the very least two classics of our beloved genre with IN THE COMPANY OF WOLVES and INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. Plus the cast is pretty killer.
Anyhow, you can check out the lackluster new poster below along with the movie's trailer. After that let us know if you're looking forward to checking out GRETA still despite the semi-boring marketing the film has put on display thus far. The official synopsis goes a little something like this:
A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz) doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Isabelle Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems in this suspense thriller from Academy Award-winning Neil Jordan.
Jordan directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote along Ray Wright (CASE 39, THE CRAZIES). Lawrence Bender, Sidney Kimmel, James Flynn, and John Penotti produce. Along with the above-mentioned Moretz, Monroe, and Huppert, the film stars Colm Feore (Stephen King's STORM OF THE CENTURY), Zawe Ashton, Graeme Thomas King, and of course, Neil Jordan mainstay Stephen Rea. GRETA will hit theaters on March 1, 2019.
