Nicolas Cage is haunted in Between Worlds trailer and poster

This is an UPDATED version of an article that was posted a few days ago.

Nicolas Cage has only made two GHOST RIDER movies, but the content of those films has spilled over into other entries on his filmography. Ghost Rider is the spirit of vengeance, a motorcycle-riding, demon-battling hero cursed with powers granted to him by the devil himself. So when Nicolas Cage's character in DRIVE ANGRY busts out of Hell wielding a gun he stole from Satan and sets out on a mission to stop an evil cult, it brings to mind Ghost Rider. When Cage takes on cultists and demonic bikers in MANDY while on a mission of vengeance, it brings to mind Ghost Rider. Earlier this week, we shared a poster for Cage's latest film, writer/director Maria Pulera's thriller BETWEEN WORLDS, that featured the actor surrounded by flames and sports the tagline "Vengeance is born in Hell"… Yeah, that was Ghost Rider, too.

As it turns out, that poster wasn't meant to be released, as it didn't pass through the necessary approval process. The new, approved poster can be seen below, along with the film's trailer.

Maybe the obvious Ghost Rider of it all is why that previous poster didn't make the cut, because there's not so much of it in the film's plot. This is the story:

Joe, a down-on-his-luck truck driver haunted by the memory of his deceased wife and child. He meets Julie, a spiritually gifted woman who enlists Joe in a desperate effort to find the lost soul of her comatose daughter, Billie. But the spirit of Joe’s dead wife Mary proves stronger, possessing the young woman’s body and determined to settle her unfinished business with the living.

Cage is joined in the cast by Franka Potente as Julie and Penelope Mitchell as Billie. Hopper Penn and Lydia Hearst are also in the cast.

The reviews that came out after BETWEEN WORLDS played at Fantastic Fest last month weren't too positive, but there might be enough for Cage fans to have fun with here – like the fact that his character seems to be pretty sleazy, and engages in a lot of over-the-top, gratuitous sex… Including one scene where Joe is seen reading a book written by Nicolas Cage (this book doesn't exist in our world) while having sex. That moment alone makes this movie sound like a must-see to me.

BETWEEN WORLDS doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll let you know when it gets one.
