Poster for Max Rose starring the legendary Jerry Lewis drops

Whether or not you've actually seen a Jerry Lewis movie you have no doubt heard his name. The man has been an icon of film, television and comedy in general for decades and has earned, at the very least, a little name recognition. But I can see why that would be hard, as the man hasn't been in a movie for about, say, two decades. Though he's made some documentary appearences and done some producing work, Lewis hasn't been in a film since 1995's FUNNY BONES with Oliver Platt, Richard Griffiths and Geroge Carlin.

But the legend is back and out of retirement, making his return in the starring role of MAX ROSE, and you can see the newly-dropped poster below.

According to the press release, ROSE is about "a jazz pianist (Jerry Lewis) who makes a discovery after the death of his wife that causes him to believe his sixty-five year marriage was a lie. He embarks on an exploration of his own past that brings him face to face with a menagerie of characters from a bygone era." The movie also stars Kerry Bishé, Kevin Pollack, and Claire Bloom.

I don't know what to think about this movie, simply because I hadn't heard about it until less than 24 hours ago. I mean, would it be wrong of me to say that I thought the man was dead? He hasn't done anything that I, or many other people, would've seen in years. Regardless, he's in something now, and if it's as good as the plot summary sounds it could be huge for iconic star.

MAX ROSE comes out in New York on September 2 and in Los Angelas on September 9, and is set for expnasion to other cities throughout September and October (probably depending on the reception).
