A24 is becoming the leader of putting out (as much as I hate to use the phrase) "elevated horror" with their releases of THE WITCH, GREEN ROOM, THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER, and the upcoming IT COMES AT NIGHT, along with a whole host of other top-quality fright flicks. Meaning, when A24 now has a new flick coming out, I tend to stop and take notice.
Case in point, WOODSHOCK, starring Kirsten Dunst.
The film is set to premiere its first trailer tomorrow and in the meantime, we have the film's poster to share with you guys today. It's not much but I'll tell you, I'm digging the title and the "drug-horror" synopsis, as "drug-horror" is a subgenre of horror that I think could use a resurgence.
WOODSHOCK synopsis:
Theresa, a haunted young woman spiraling in the wake of profound loss, torn between her fractured emotional state and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug.
WOODSHOCK is directed by Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy, and stars Kirsten Dunst (see below), Pilou Asbæk, Joe Cole, Lorelei Linklater and Steph DuVall.
Check back for the flick's trailer TOMORROW.
