The character of Mad Max has become an icon in the Hollywood wasteland of cinematic badasses. So like everyone else I was not pleased to hear of the news that a Gibson-less MAD MAX movie was getting the reboot/decades later sequel" treatment. But after seeing the trailer and learning that George Miller was in the director's chair, we began to not look at MAD MAX:FURY ROAD as a reboot but as a continuation of the post apocalyptic head rush that is the MAD MAX saga. Not to mention that this R rated science fiction action flick went on to get recognized at the Academy Awards as it proudly stood along side all the those typical Oscar bait nominees. If anything this film represents hope on so many levels: hope that practical effects still have a place in modern society and hope that action movies can feature characters we care about and hope that older filmmakers like George Miller still have what it takes to keep us on the edge of our seats. So jump in, buckle up and enjoy the latest episode of POP-UP MOVIE FACTS as share with you little tip bits and fun facts of how this modern masterpiece came to life.
