MGM and Fox 2000's remake of POLTERGEIST just got a whole lot more interesting! The Wrap reports that Sam Rockwell is in very early talks to star opposite Rosemarie DeWitt in the upcoming remake. Rockwell has plenty of movie offers on his plate at the moment and while he's intrigued with the role, he hasn't officially taken the part just yet. That's as far as this one has gotten but apparently he's a top priority for the filmmakers right now so we'll see how this one turns out.
Dubbed a revisionist take on the original film, the new story centers on a family struggling to make ends meet that relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.
POLTERGEIST is being produced by Sam Raimi with Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE) directing from a screenplay by David Lindsay-Abaire. The film is expected to begin shooting this fall. We'll keep you folks posted as this one moves along. Let's hope they snag Rockwell!
