Poker Face: Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins Rian Johnson’s mystery series for Peacock

Since Joseph Gordon-Levitt first worked with Rian Johnson in Brick nearly twenty years ago, the actor has appeared in several of Johnson’s subsequent projects. Variety has reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will reunite with Rian Johnson once more as he has joined the cast of Poker Face, a mystery drama in development for Peacock starring Natasha Lyonne.

Plot details for Poker Face are currently a mystery, but it’s said that the series will “follow a procedural format and see [Natasha] Lyonne’s character working to solve different murders in each episode.” It’s not known who Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play in Poker Face or how many episodes he will appear in, but you had to know that he’d be appearing in some form. After starring in Brick, Joseph Gordon-Levitt returned to star alongside Bruce Willis in Looper and went on to make voice cameos in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out.

Peacock gave the new Poker Face a 10-episode order last year. “I’m very excited to dig into the type of fun, character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching,” Rian Johnson said at the time. “It’s my happy place. Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream, and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.” Johnson created the series and will also serve as executive producer alongside Natasha Lyonne. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was most recently seen starring in Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. The Showtime series told the story of the rise of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and destructive companies, with Gordon-Levitt playing Travis Kalanick, Uber’s CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup. He will next be voicing Jiminy Cricket in Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio. The live-action/animated hybrid, which stars Tom Hanks as the kind-hearted and lonely woodcarver Geppetto, will debut on Disney+ this September.
