Overwhelming excitement, I choose you! It's been announced that a new Pokémon series is in early development at Netflix. Details about the plot are still nestled firmly inside a Pokéball, but sources say that Lucifer's Joe Henderson is attached to write and executive produce.
Sources close to the project say the project is a live-action effort much like 2019's Pokémon: Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith. The newly-announced Pokémon project is bound to have fans of the beloved RPG franchise freaking out because everyone knows that you can never have too much Pokémon.
Henderson currently serves as co-showrunner and executive producer on Netflix's Lucifer, which is getting ready to unleash its sixth and final season. Henderson is also busy developing a series adaptation of the comic book Shadecraft for Netflix. Henderson co-created the series with artist Lee Garbett. The story revolves around Zadie Zu, a teenager afraid of her own shadow. This is unfortunate, especially now that shadows are coming to life, and are on the attack. How do you fight something you can't even touch? What happens when the shadow that haunts your every step is tied to your own family? This is Peter Pan's worst nightmare, and it's all coming true!
Are you excited about the prospect of a live-action Pokémon series? Which Pokémon would you love to see represented when this project eventually launches on Netflix? Personally, I'm hoping for some more Ghost-type Pokémon as there were not nearly enough of them in the 2019 film.
