The rise of the comedy team of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele feels very well deserved. The pair regularly produce great skits on their sketch-comedy show Key & Peele and the past couple of years have seen their popularity soar more and more. Both actors have put in memorable supporting roles in many films but now they're finally getting the chance to headline their own.
KEANU sees the comedy duo as two friends who decide to act like gangster drug-dealers in order to retrieve a stolen kitten. Already on board is Method Man, who will play a murderous drug lord who believes the duo are a pair of legendary gangsters and Gabrielle Union will also put in an appearance as Key’s wife. THR is reporting that another favourite comedian of mine is set to co-star in KEANU; Will Forte will join the cast as a low-level pot dealer who is obsessed with black culture, although Peele’s character is the only black person he knows.
KEANU, which is due to begin production this summer in New Orleans for a April 22, 2016 release, is being directed by Peter Atencio from a script by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens. In addition to KEANU, Key & Peele are also giving the feature-film treatment to their substitute teacher sketch.
