Aubrey Plaza is moving on from her unexpected role in the CHILD'S PLAY remake to starring in the psychological thriller BLACK BEAR alongside Christopher Abbott (IT COMES AT NIGHT, PIERCING) and Sarah Gadon (DRACULA UNTOLD, 11.22.63).
Alternatively described as a "suspenseful meta-drama", whatever that might be, BLACK BEAR is written and directed by Lawrence Michael Levine. The story:
An expecting couple (Gadon and Abbott) is confronted with an out of town guest Abigail (Plaza), a filmmaker suffering from writer's block who seeks solace in the woods but finds herself at the center of a twisted love triangle. BLACK BEAR explores those parts of ourselves we are most afraid of.
Currently filming in the Adirondack Mountains in Long Lake, New York, BLACK BEAR is produced by Julie Christeas and Jonathan Blitstein of Tandem Pictures, Richard J. Bosner of Blue Creek Pictures, Sophia Takal, and Marina Grasic and Jai Khanna of Oakhurst Entertainment. The film is being financed by Productivity Media Inc.
Levine describes his film as
a thriller that depicts broken characters wrestling with a seemingly shattered world that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. I am thrilled to have such a talented trio of actors on board."
BLACK BEAR sounds interesting to me, and I look forward to seeing Plaza, Abbott, and Gadon share scenes with each other.
