Patrick Lussier, director of My Bloody Valentine 3D (watch it HERE) and Drive Angry (watch that one HERE) has taken to his Instagram account to reveal that he is in production on a new film, one titled Play Dead… And that’s all we know about the film at this point, aside from the fact that the cinematographer is Mac Fisken. But regardless of what Play Dead may be about, it’s always good news to hear we’re getting another Patrick Lussier movie.
Lussier got his start as an editor, with his credits including the Wes Craven projects New Nightmare, Vampire in Brooklyn, Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Cursed, and Red Eye, as well as Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and Guillermo del Toro’s Mimic. He made his directorial debut with The Prophecy 3: The Ascent, and has gone on to direct Dracula 2000, Dracula II: Ascension, Dracula III: Legacy, White Noise 2: The Light, Trick, and Into the Dark: Flesh & Blood, as well as the films mentioned in the first paragraph and episodes of the Scream and The Purge TV shows.
Lussier also wrote several of the films he directed, and co-wrote Terminator: Genisys.
Play Dead marks his first time working with Mac Fisken, who was cinematographer on the Mickey Keating films Ritual, Pod, Darling, Carnage Park, Psychopaths, and Offseason.
We’ll keep you updated on Play Dead as more information is made available. Hopefully we’ll know a lot more about this project very soon. In the meantime, check out the video embedded above to hear Lussier discuss the Halloween movie (a sequel to the Rob Zombie duo) he and his My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry, and Trick collaborator Todd Farmer nearly made together, and take a look at the video embedded below to find out which scenes from Lussier’s films rank among his personal favorites.
