The cast of Robert Zemeckis' Pinocchio has grown a little larger and that ain't no fib! Deadline has reported that Luke Evans has joined Pinocchio as The Coachman, the villainous figure who lures young boys to Pleasure Island where they're turned into donkeys.
The film already stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto, the kindly woodcarver who creates Pinocchio, and is slated to be directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also co-wrote the script with Chris Weitz. The live-action film won't be headed to theaters as it was announced at Disney Investor Day last month that it will instead debut on the Disney+ streaming service.
Luke Evans was recently seen in the second season of The Alienist alongside Daniel Brühl and Dakota Fanning, and also starred in ITV's three-part miniseries The Pembrokeshire Murders. Evans is also starring in David E. Kelly's upcoming Hulu miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers, a drama that also stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, and Samara Weaving.
