I've enjoyed Daniel Craig as James Bond, however I have a special place in my heart for Pierce Brosnan's Bond flicks, especially GOLDENEYE. To me, they feel more like Bond movies than the recent ones with Craig. I'm not saying Pierce Brosnan was a better Bond than Daniel Craig, but his movies are definitely more like the older ones than Craig's.
But apparently Pierce Brosnan doesn't like watching himself as Bond. The actor recently told The Telegraph he hasn't re-watched his Bond films, and says the violence didn't feel real in his movies.
"I felt I was caught in a time warp between Roger and Sean. It was a very hard one to grasp the meaning of, for me. The violence was never real, the brute force of the man was never palpable. It was quite tame, and the characterisation didn’t have a follow-through of reality, it was surface. But then that might have had to do with my own insecurities in playing him as well.".
“I have no desire to watch myself as James Bond. ‘Cause it’s just never good enough.” He laughs mirthlessly. “It’s a horrible feeling.”
Brosnan goes on to say he appreciates what Bond has done for his career.
"It’s the gift that keeps on giving, that allowed me to create my own production company and make my own movies.”
Pierce Brosnan may feel a little insecure, but I thought he was awesome as Bond, and I wish he had the chance to play the character just one more time before Daniel Craig took over. The actor will be revisiting the spy genre with his upcoming NOVEMBER MAN, and I can't wait to see Pierce Brosnan kicking ass once again on the big screen.
