Phil Lord and Chris Miller say Jump Street/Men in Black crossover may happen

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Remember last month when the Sony email hacks revealed that the studio had the insane idea to crossover the 22 JUMP STREET and MEN IN BLACK franchises? Yeah, we laughed and figured the suits at the studio were drinking during lunch and reading too much fan fiction, but it may not be a completely insane idea.

In an interview with MTV, writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller responded to whether there was any chance the crossover could happen. Here was their response.

“Nothing’s changed. It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they’re going to be terrible… We’re really focusing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time!”

Now, Lord and Miller are funny guys, so this could be just their way of messing with a reporter, but they also didn't totally rule it out. Despite being an action comedy, the JUMP STREET films still operate in a somewhat realistic world. To take Jenko and Schmidt and put them in a completely supernatural setting would require some major suspension of disbelief. But, hey, if we believe Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are high school/college aged, why not alien fighting secret agents?

It is also interesting to note that 22 JUMP STREET screenwriter Oren Uziel was being sought by Sony to draft MEN IN BLACK 4. Maybe that connection helped foster this crazy tangent? Who knows but do not be surprised if this movie actually happens. I would say crazier things have happened, but this could very well be the craziest.
