ANT-MAN has had a controversial switch of directors during it's lengthy pre-production process. Fan-favorite Edgar Wright (HOT FUZZ, SHAUN OF THE DEAD) left the project citing creative differences, which led many to believe that ANT-MAN was over before it ever really got started. Marvel stuck to its guns, brought on director Peyton Reed (YES MAN, DOWN WITH LOVE) and haven't budged from their release date of July 17, 2015. It looks like things are finally ready to roll, as Peyton Reed tweeted the start of production for the tumultuous film about an incredibly shrinking man.
Alright, gang. Today is the day. LET'S. GET. small. #AntMan

I imagine people will be calling "What if…" if ANT-MAN fails to impress. While I can't claim to be Reed's biggest fan, the director's films have an energy to them that may be able to translate well to a Marvel flick. Fortunately, he also has one of the most charismatic leading men on his side in Paul Rudd. No one sets out to make a bad film and with Marvel releasing two of their greatest so far (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER), I hope they all deliver an entertaining film come this time next year.
ANT-MAN will hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
