Peter Jackson hopes to begin work on the Tintin sequel within a year or two

It took quite a number of years for Steven Spielberg's TINTIN movie to finally materialize so I can only assume that we have a bit of a wait ahead of us for the sequel as well. The director has long been a fan of Tintin and originally scooped up the rights to make a Tintin movie in the mid-80s, but it would take a meeting with Peter Jackson decades later to get the ball rolling. Spielberg directed the first film, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: SECRET OF THE UNICORN, and it was assumed that Peter Jackson would helm the second, but as the film didn't exactly blow up at the box-office ($373 million worldwide), it was unknown as to whether or not a sequel would follow.

Steven Spielberg himself confirmed earlier this year that the TINTIN sequel is still in the works, and while recently speaking with The Playlist, Peter Jackson stoked the sequel fires once more to say that he is expecting to begin work on the project "hopefully in the next year or two." Not much of an update, but as a life-long Tintin fan eager for another film, I'll take it.

As this is far from the first time that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have stated that work on the TINTIN sequel would begin in such and such time, I'm not about to hold my breath, but it is good to know that the two are still endeavoring to keep it alive. Nothing has been confirmed, but it had been rumoured that the sequel would be an adaptation of "The Seven Crystal Balls" and "Prisoners of the Sun," meaning that the sequel will see the return of Jamie Bell as Tintin and Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, as well as Nick Frost and Simon Pegg as Thomson and Thompson, respectively, while also introducing us to Professor Calculus, the brilliant yet absent-minded professor who is only a little hard of hearing in one ear.

Would you still be up for a TINTIN sequel or has that ship sailed?
