Last month, Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Josh Gad were in talks in Chris Columbus' PIXELS. All three actors will appear in the upcoming film, and The Wrap has learned Peter Dinklage is in final negotiations to join them.
Sony's planned movie is an adaptation of Patrick Jean's short film (video below), and the first draft of the script for PIXELS was written by Tim Herlihy, which was then rewritten by Tim Dowling. Adam Sandler is currently working out some kinks in the script with Herlihy, and filming is scheduled to start this summer.
Synopsis:
"When aliens attack by staging versions of ’80s video games on an epic scale, four champion arcade gamers are called back into action to save the world."
PIXELS is the most interesting project Adam Sandler has been attached to in years, however that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a great film. Having the guys that wrote GROWN UPS 2, THIS MEANS WAR and JUST GO WITH IT working on the script for PIXELS isn't a great sign, but it could still at least be a fun movie, or at least better than most of Adam Sandler's recent films.
