Pet Sematary remake will be hitting us 2 weeks early!

Those who frequent this site know that I am a massive fan of not only Stephen King's novel PET SEMATARY but I'm just as much (if not more so) a fan of Mary Lambert's 1989 adaptation starring Dale Midkiff and Fred Gwynne. It might seem strange then that I'm looking forward to the upcoming remake as much as I am. But I think the story could handle a face-lift and screenwriter Jeff Buhler (MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN) recently said the film is on track to be "one of the scariest Stephen King adaptations ever!"

Not only that, but I'm loving the choices of directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (STARRY EYES) and the casting of Jason Clarke as Louis and John Lithgow as Jud. All of this has even me nodding my head in agreement and thus I'm excited to let you guys know that the remake has just been moved up in the release schedule.

The film was originally supposed to crawl out of the grave and into our backyards April 19, 2019. But today we have word the film has moved to a closer release on April 5, 2019. Yeah, it's a small move, but if it means I get to revisit Zelda and Gage again on the big screen two weeks earlier, that's all good with me!

The original film followed:

Doctor Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne). After the Creeds' cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. When Louis' son, Gage (Miko Hughes), dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy's body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis' visions of a deceased patient.

Just to reiterate, Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch's remake of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY starring Jason Clarke and John Lithgow will now be hitting us April 5, 2019. Time to start getting excited, people.
