Pet Sematary prequel: Natalie Alyn Lind and 3 more join the cast

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Last month, it was announced that Jackson White will be playing a young Jud Crandall in the Pet Sematary prequel that Lindsey Beer is writing and directing for the Paramount Plus streaming service, and now the names of four of White's co-stars have been revealed. They are Natalie Alyn Lind (The Gifted), Jack Mulhern (Mare of Easttown), Forrest Goodluck (The Revenant), and newcomer Isabella Star LaBlanc.

Details on the characters the new cast additions will be playing were not shared, but it's possible that a couple of them may be playing members of the Mi'kmaq tribe. It would be interesting to hear their perspective on the cursed burial ground at the center of this franchise.

Based on a novel by Stephen King, the first Pet Sematary told the following story:

Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences.

Pet Sematary 2019 writer Jeff Buhler wrote a draft of the screenplay for this film before Beer boarded the project. Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, the prequel is set to begin filming in August. It will be released exclusively through Paramount Plus.

An elderly Jud Crandall was played by Fred Gwynne in the 1989 version of Pet Sematary (watch it HERE) and by John Lithgow in the 2019 movie (watch that one HERE). The '89 film was followed by a sequel in 1992, and you can watch Pet Sematary II at THIS LINK.

We'll keep you updated on the Pet Sematary prequel as it continues to move forward.
