For those of you who can't wait to see more of Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story, we have a really cool piece of casting news for you! As you could probably guess from the headline, Penelope Cruz has been tapped to play Donatella Versace in an upcoming season. Versace: American Crime Story will follow the events of the murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace. Edgar Ramirez has already been cast as the Italian designer with Darren Criss playing the serial killer, Andrew Cunanan. Despite season 2 of Crime Story (following the events of Katrina) arriving next year, Versace is also said to hit some time in 2018.
Ryan Murphy, having had a hand in Glee and American Horror Story, certainly knows how to put together some entertaining TV. Furthermore, he knows how to assemble a hell of a cast. Given that Sarah Paulson won a Golden Globe for her turn in The People v. O.J. Simpson, I'm sure there are a lot of actors eager to take part in whatever Murphy has coming up next. There's no doubts that Cruz will kill it as Donatella!
Versace: American Crime Story will hit FX some time in 2018.
