We're less than a year away from WONDER WOMAN 1984, the sequel to the hit 2017 superhero action film. Gal Gadot is set to reprise her role as the mighty Amazonian princess while Kristen Wiig makes her superhero debut as villain Ann Minerva/Cheetah. Back in March of 2018 joblo first reported that Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal (KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE) had joined the cast in a key role. Since then no one's been able to confirm who exactly Pascal would be playing…until now.
That's right! Director Patty Jenkins herself confirmed on her Twitter account that Pascal will be playing none other than Maxwell Lord. In the DC comics Lord is a supervillain and a shrewd and powerful business man. While plot details are scarce, a previous rumor states that Lord, with Minerva's help, is seeking to transform into a powerful god by tracking down mystical artifacts. While that story concept is still just rumor, it could help explain how Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) could return for the sequel after dying at the end of Wonder Woman.
WONDER WOMAN 1984 lassos its way into theaters June 5, 2020.
