Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of PEAKY BLINDERS's fifth season, as the show makes its move from BBC Two to BBC One. Taylor-Joy is on fire right now, as the girl who made her theatrical debut with Robert Eggers' 2015 horror thriller THE WITCH, and then went on to star in the Ridley Scott produced MORGAN, as well as the indie hit THOROUGHBREDS, M. Night Shyamalan's SPLIT, and the upcoming 20th Century Fox X-MEN film THE NEW MUTANTS and highly anticipated villain team up movie GLASS.
The gritty crime saga created by Steven Knight sees its fifth season heading down its darkest path yet, as Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby is approached by a charismatic politican with a bold vision for Britian in the wake of the 1929 financial crash. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Tommy, who is now an MP, comes to understand that his response to the questionable politician will affect not only his family, but his country as well.
BBC One released the first look photo of Anya Taylor-Joy on the series, which was captured by season five director Anthony Byrne (IN DARKNESS).
PEAKY BLINDERS stars Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Helen McCroy, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Benjamin Zephaniah, Ian Peck and Ned Dennehy. Season five is set to air in 2019.
