Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip finds Mini Marshmallow Men on the loose

The first clip from Ghostbusters: Afterlife has arrived and it features Paul Rudd meeting a gaggle of mini Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men in the supermarket. The image is a bit of a throwback from the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from the original Ghostbusters so it seems to stay in line with the notion that the film will take the series a bit back to its roots.

In the clip, Paul Rudd's character, a teacher named Mr. Grooberson, is browsing a grocery store when he suddenly hears someone cry out. Music that is reminiscent of Elmer Bernstein's score from the original film can be heard before a group of baby Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men show up and start making "cute" sounds before turning themselves into s'mores. Including them is a bit of a fan service moment but we all know that nostalgia and throwbacks play well with the moviegoing audience.

In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, “After being evicted from their home, two children and their single mother move to a farm inherited from their late grandfather, located in Summerville, Oklahoma. When the town experiences a series of unexplained earthquakes, the children discover their family’s link to the original Ghostbusters, who have become something of a myth as many have long since forgotten the events of the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984. They discover the secret legacy that their grandfather left behind.” The film also stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace, while original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts also reprise their roles.
