Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot adds Chris Hemsworth

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

As fans have compiled dream cast lists for a GHOSTBUSTERS sequel or reboot in recent years, Chris Hemsworth has probably ended up on a good number of them due to the charm and humor he has brought to the THOR and AVENGERS films.

Paul Feig has obviously noticed Hemsworth's comedic talent, as the director announced on Twitter that he has indeed cast the man in his GHOSTBUSTERS reboot. But we probably won't be seeing Hemsworth busting ghosts with a proton pack strapped on his back. Going all the way with his gender-flipping concept, Feig has cast Hemsworth to serve as the receptionist to the all-female Ghosbusters team that consists of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

In the previous GHOSTBUSTERS film, the all-male team employed a female receptionist; Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz.

While it's easy to imagine Hemsworth holding his own in the comedy department, it's harder to imagine him working as a receptionist. It's not likely he has been cast to simply answer phones, so it will be interesting to see what happens with his character.

GHOSTBUSTERS is set for release on July 22, 2016.
