Patty Jenkins says Wonder Woman 3 and an Amazon spinoff are “all mapped out”

During this year's CCXP, Brazil's premiere Comic-Con convention, WONDER WOMAN 1984 director Patty Jenkins and the Warrior Princess herself, Gal Gadot, revealed the they already have plans "all mapped out" for a WONDER WOMAN 3, as well as a spinoff centered around the Amazons of Themyscira.

“We actually already know the whole story to [Wonder Woman 3] and then some because there is an Amazon [spin-off] movie, as well, and so we already have it all mapped out,” Jenkins told reporters from a variety of outlets who were covering the big show. “It’s just a matter of will we change our minds and when.”

Something tells me that their minds will be made up once they see the box office returns for Diana's next adventure, which is bound to make a crazy amount of money when it arrives in theaters on June 5, 2020. I say this because when WONDER WOMAN landed in 2017, the female-led comic book spectacle banked a worldwide total of $821.1 million in tickets sold, exceeding both fan and executive expectations in a very big way. Obviously the numbers aren't in yet, but mark my words, I'll eat my hat if WONDER WOMAN 1984 doesn't make more money than the original.

While the thought of Jenkins having plans for both a WONDER WOMAN sequel and an Amazon-centric spinoff is indeed an exciting prospect, those projects are still in need of a green light from Warner Bros. Should they get the go-ahead from the powers that be, Jenkins has said that it will take a while for them to come rushing onto the big screen.

“I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back,” Jenkins said, as quoted by Deadline. “It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between — and I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”

In WONDER WOMAN 1984, Diana will square off against the Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), a villainess who possese superhuman strength and agility. Moreover, she'll also match wits with Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), a calculating businessman who in time influenced the formation of the Justice League International.

It sounds as if everything is coming up Milhouse for Diana Prince, and WONDER WOMAN 1984 hasn't even hit theaters yet! Are you excited for next year's sequel? Are you down for an Amazon-focused spinoff feature? Let us know in the comments section below!
