Patty Jenkins has stepped in to replace Michelle MacLaren on Wonder Woman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Well that was fast; just two days after it was announced that Michelle MacLaren had departed WONDER WOMAN due to "creative differences" it seems as though Warner Bros. has already found themselves a replacement. THR is reporting that Patty Jenkins has just closed a deal to take over directing duties on WONDER WOMAN.

Patty Jenkins is no stranger to the bountiful land of superheroes, having originally been hired as the director of THOR: THE DARK WORLD, but in a situation very similar to MacLaren's she would later bow out due to…you guessed it…"creative differences." Here's hoping that WONDER WOMAN will finally give her the opportunity to play around in the superhero universe. Jenkins, much like MacLaren, is quite active in the TV world having worked on Arrested Development, Entourage, and The Killing; but I'd say her most well known piece of film would be 2003's MONSTER which starred Charlize Theron as serial killer Aileen Wuornos.

WONDER WOMAN is still set to be released on June 23, 2017 but these big productions take time so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Warner Bros. moved to fill the directors chair so quickly.

Sound off below, how do you feel about Patty Jenkins directing WONDER WOMAN?
