Patrick Wilson teases the return of Ocean Master for Aquaman 2

For whatever reason, I missed AQUAMAN in theaters, which I soon realized was a terrible mistake as the James Wan film was colourful, action-packed, and delightfully bonkers; I won't be making that same mistake for the sequel. The first film followed Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) as he joined forces with Mera (Amber Heard) in order to stop his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) from uniting the kingdoms of Atlantis and declaring war on the surface world, and everything we've heard of the sequel seems to point to something even bigger.

Warner Bros. has already slated AQUAMAN 2 for a December 2022 release, which means that we've still a ways off from returning to Atlantis, but Patrick Wilson, who played Ocean Master in the first film, already knows a little about what to expect. While speaking with THR, Wilson teased that he'll be returning for the sequel and that James Wan will be pushing it even further.

I’m slightly briefed. Of course, I want to know everything, but I also have a great respect for him and the process to know that I’m OK staying out of it until it’s late in the game. Sometimes, there’s so much information that I don’t ask because I don’t want to know, and I don’t want him to go, “I can’t tell you that yet.” I just throw a little dart here and there. I’ll say, “So, what about this?” and he’ll say, “Well, this is what I’m thinking.” But, we talk a lot. It’s funny, when I think about the answers that I gave you at the beginning of this and always pushing myself forward, even in the same genre, that’s James to a T. I can tell you that even his concepts for Aquaman 2 are pushing it even further. Whatever that means. I have a few ideas of where Orm fits in, but I’m not gonna talk about them.

This falls in line with what Jason Momoa teased last month when he said, "There’s a lot more in store on so many more levels. There’s going to be a lot. It’s way bigger!"  Wilson also added that he's been pitching James Wan on including Vera Farmiga, his co-star in THE CONJURING franchise, in the AQUAMAN sequel. "I pitch her all the time," Wilson said. "I remember seeing Cate Blanchett in Thor and feeling, 'Man, I would love a female villain …' I think Vera would be great in any role, really." AQUAMAN 2 will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
