While we don’t know how far into the future Marvel will make announcements during their panel at Comic Con tomorrow, we know there will have to be news about AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and ANT-MAN. Fans are likely most curious about ANT-MAN after the departure of Edgar Wright and want to know what the heck is happening with the production. In advance of that presentation, some casting news has been revealed and they are definitely not additions.
Deadline is reporting that three actors have left the production, led by Patrick Wilson. Wilson’s dropping from the cast seems less related to the creative direction of the film rather than the hiatus after Edgar Wright‘s departure pushed ANT-MAN into conflict with other obligations on the actor’s slate.
The other two actors leaving ANT-MAN are Matt Gerald and Kevin Weisman whose characters were excised completely from the recent script rewrites. Weisman is best known for the role of Marshall Flinkman on ALIAS and Gerald played Havoc in G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. It is unknown exactly what their parts were set to be but any casting changes remain black eyes on the already troubled production.
I would expect Kevin Feige and Marvel to pull out all the stops to present their panel tomorrow with ANT-MAN announcements hopefully coming with positive news. Everyone swears up and down that Wright’s departure was amicable, but fans will remain reluctant until we see some footage. Stay tuned here at JoBlo.com and we will bring you the news as it develops.
ANT-MAN hits theaters July 17, 2015.
