Patrick Stewart announces offer for free month of CBS All Access

With everyone pretty much forced to stay home nationwide due to "stay at home" measures in regards to the coronavirus pandemic, streaming services have become a necessity more than ever during these uncertain times. CBS All Access has noticed this and they're giving you some time to test out their service before making a commitment. 

While promoting the season finale of Star Trek: Picard, actor Patrick Stewart took to his Twitter to announce that CBS All Access is offering a month free subscription for the streamer to anyone in the U.S. through April 23. The offer comes just as tens of millions of Americans are finding themselves with extra time at home during the COVID-19 crisis. The promo is also fitting because it gives you an opportunity to catch up on Star Trek: Picard which drops on Thursday. Check out Stewart's post below which features a link to redeem the offer. The free month for CBS All Access is good for both versions of the streamer which offers limited commercials for $5.99 once the month is up or commercial-free for $9.99 per month. ViaComCBS CEO Bob Bakish told investors back in February that he anticipated CBS All Access and Showtime would reach a combined 16 million subscribers by the end of 2020. This is before the pandemic so that figure could feasibly be on the rise now. At the end of 2019, Bakish reported that all of Viacom CBS' subscription streaming services has earned 11 million subscribers, a gain of 50% over the previous year.

As for Star Trek: Picard, although CBS All Access has not released specific audience data, the show is said to be the most-watched original series on CBS All Access to date. The 10-episode first season opened with the iconic Trek captain retired and unhappy on his family vineyard in France, until he gets roped into a new mission that includes Romulans, the Borg, and a vast conspiracy involving android offspring of Picard's colleague Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner). The series also stars Jonathan Frakes, Jeri Ryan, Marina Sirtis, Alison Pill & Isa Briones.
