The pandemic thriller PATIENT ZERO starring Matt Smith (DR. WHO), Natalie Dormer (GAME OF THRONES) and Stanley Tucci (THE LOVELY BONES) was shot way back in 2015 in London. That's one hell of a long time between wrapping production and getting a release date, but all the same, yes, today we have word on just when you'll be able to check out this new flick.
Vertical Entertainment has announced today over on Variety that they will be rolling the film out in front of audiences on Digital and VOD come August 14th, with a theatrical booking of select theaters to follow shortly after on September 14th.
Agyness Deyn and Clive Standen co-star in the film which takes place
After a super-virus has turned humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers. Smith portrays an asymptomatic victim who can communicate with the infected and must lead the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.
The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2013 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year, that's got to mean something, right? That and the talented cast – plus the talent behind the scenes – and this movie sounds like it couldn't go wrong … but probably did along the way… I guess we'll see soon.
The film is directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky (COLD HELL) from a screenplay by Mike Le (DARK SUMMER) and it was produced by Vincent Newman and executive produced by Glenn S. Gainor and Steve Norris. Once again, Vertical Entertainment will be rolling the film out in front of audiences on Digital and VOD come August 14th with a theatrical booking of select theaters to follow shortly after on September 14th.
