I loved PARKS AND RECREATION. While that was certainly due to its fun and eccentric cast of characters (I’m a Ben man myself), it was nonetheless buoyed by Amy Poehler‘s glowing and positive performance. However, while Poehler is a gifted performer, she is also no stranger to writing or developing comedy ideas of her own. So it’s no surprise to hear that she’s spearheading an animated comedy pilot, with an idea she came up with. Here’s the plot description, according to The Hollywood Reporter:
The potential series centers on the family and friends of 15-year-old Duncan Harris, an average kid with dreams of being a UFC fighter, tech billionaire, video game champ — or any job where you make a ton of money and don’t have to wear a tie.
While it’s her idea, the script is going to be be written by THE SIMPSONS alumni Mike and Julie Scully. And, personally, I think the idea has legs. As of now, it seems like it might have a WALTER MITTY vibe, but we’ll see once more information comes out. No matter what, though, I’ll at least give this a look as a fan of Poehler’s.
Meanwhile, as it’s early in development, there’s no release date as of yet. But we’ll keep you posted.
