At some point, it's just not going to be possible for Friday the 13th: The Game to get any cooler. The game's developers have now given its cool factor another boost by releasing a teaser for a new game mode called Paranoia… and while this didn't come with any sort of explanation, the video seems to indicate that Paranoia has taken inspiration from one of the more maligned but still beloved entries in the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise, FRIDAY THE 13TH: A NEW BEGINNING.
The fifth film in the series, A NEW BEGINNING features a hockey masked killer who racks up quite a body count, but the man behind the mask isn't Jason Voorhees. It's a copycat who is using the legend of Jason to cover up his own actions.
Asking #whoisfiVe, the Paranoia teaser mixes shots of the game's counselors with flashes of the hockey mask from A NEW BEGINNING with its blue chevrons (instead of Jason's red ones), and a batch of splotches, one of which turns blue. Fans interpret this to mean that in Paranoia game mode, one of the counselors will actually, secretly be the killer instead of Jason himself. But which one is the maniac? You'll have to play the game to figure it out.
If you have Friday the 13th: The Game, the Paranoia game mode will soon be available at no additional charge.
