Paramount schedules A Quiet Place 2, moves Terminator 6 release

Despite positive reviews, I was hesitant to watch Paramount's genre film A QUIET PLACE earlier this year, worried that it would be dull to watch a movie about people who can't talk to each other in a post-apocalyptic world. I was wrong about that one; it was a lot more entertaining and eventful than I expected it to be. Paramount is currently working on a sequel to A QUIET PLACE, which is not an idea I would pursue – I think the film works perfectly as a standalone one-off. But when a movie makes over $330 million worldwide on a budget under $20 million, you're going to get a sequel, so I'm hoping I'll be proven wrong about this one, too.

Paramount has now set a release date for the A QUIET PLACE sequel, which is being produced by Platinum Dunes and written by the first film's director/co-writer John Kraskinski. It's not known yet who will be directing the film, but it's scheduled to reach theatres on May 15, 2020.

The first A QUIET PLACE had the following simple synopsis: 

If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you. A family lives an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.

Paramount also announced a new release date for the TERMINATOR sequel that's being directed by DEADPOOL's Tim Miller and produced by franchise creator James Cameron. While the release is still more than a year away, the film will be reaching the big screen one week earlier than previously expected; they have moved it up from November 22, 2019 to November 15, 2019.

Acknowledging only the events of THE TERMINATOR and TERMINATOR 2, this one stars Linda Hamilton, reprising the role of Sarah Connor; Mackenzie Davis as Grace, a soldier-assassin from the future; Natalia Reyes as heroine Dani; Gabriel Luna as a Terminator; Diego Boneta as Dani's brother; and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger. Brett Azar, who was the CGI stand-in for the scenes that required a younger version of Schwarzenegger in TERMINATOR: GENISYS, will again be the CGI stand-in for a younger Arnold, this time for scenes that take place during the time of TERMINATOR 2. Jude Collie is the CGI stand-in for T2's Edward Furlong.

Scripted by Josh Friedman, David S. Goyer, Billy Ray, and Justin Rhodes from a story by Miller and producer David Ellison, the new TERMINATOR doesn't have an official synopsis yet.
