Pamela Anderson is a notoriously polarizing figure. She was inescapable in the 90s, and while she had taken a step out of the spotlight since then, she’s the subject of a new documentary, presumably in response to the recent Hulu mini-series Pam & Tommy, which recounted the events of the theft to the spread of the infamous private sex tape with her and then-husband, Tommy Lee.

Netflix has just released the trailer for Pamela, A Love Story. The synopsis of the new documentary reads,
“An intimate and humanizing portrait of one of the world’s most famous blonde bombshells, Pamela, a love story follows the trajectory of Pamela Anderson’s life and career from small town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist and doting mother.”

The Hulu series would include actress Lake Bell as a director on a few episodes. Bell had spoken about her intent to give Anderson a voice through the series and show how deeply it affected her, coupled with the performance of Lily James as Anderson, which had garnered a number of praise for her ability to disappear into the role. The same praise had been given to her co-star, Sebastian Stan, who portrayed Tommy Lee.

This documentary is told from the personal perspective of Anderson, as well as her son. The movie is directed by Ryan White, who already has several documentary credits under his belt with movies like The Case Against 8 and Serena. The Netflix documentary is produced by Jessica Hargrave, Julia Nottingham, and Anderson’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee.

Pamela, A Love Story is due to be available for streaming on Netflix on January 31.
