Pam & Tommy trailer tells the sordid tale of the most famous sex tape ever

Draw the blinds and prepare to get nostalgic about one of the most notorious amateur porn tapes ever released under nefarious means because a new Pam & Tommy trailer is coming your way. Today’s Pam & Tommy trailer teases Hulu‘s upcoming eight-episode series, premiering on February 2, 2022.

Set in the Wild West early days of the Internet, Pam & Tommy is based on the incredible true story of the Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) sex tape. Stolen from the couple’s home by a disgruntled contractor (Seth Rogen), the video went from underground bootleg-VHS curiosity to full-blown global sensation when it hit the Web in 1997. A love story, crime caper, and cautionary tale rolled into one, the eight-part original limited series explores the intersection of privacy, technology, and celebrity, tracing the origins of our current Reality TV Era to a stolen tape seen by millions but meant to have an audience of just two.

Joining James, Stan, and Rogen for this provocative piece of cinema are Nick Offerman, Taylor Schilling, Andrew Dice Clay, Pepi Sonuga, Spenser Granese, and Mazhan Marnò.

In the Pam & Tommy trailer, Andrew Dice Clay’s Butchie tells Rogen’s Rand Gauthier and Offerman’s Uncle Miltie, “Nobody’s ever getting rich off a celebrity sex tape.” Later, Gauthier suggests, “What if we sold it someplace nobody could find us? A website!” The circus comes to town from there, and not long thereafter, Pamela and Tommy find their lives thrown into chaos. There are some hardcore emotional beats in the promo as well, with James delivering an emotional performance frame after frame.

In addition to the new Pam & Tommy trailer, Hulu released several new images from the upcoming series:

I don’t know about you, but the Pam & Tommy trailer has me very excited to check this series out when it hits Hulu next month. I remember quite vividly when the news about the tape was on every grocery store rag and suspicious website on the internet, which, at the time, wasn’t at all what it is now. I recall thinking about what an invasion of privacy the release and distribution of the tape was, and how it would likely lead to more celebrities being targeted in the future. I was not wrong.
