Palm Springs, sequel, Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti

Palm Springs starred Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti as a pair of guests at a wedding who have a chance encounter with one another before things get complicated when they're trapped in an infinite time-loop and are unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other. The sci-fi romantic comedy was a critical darling last year, and you know what that means — sequel, baby!

To be fair, a Palm Springs sequel isn't anywhere near official, but while speaking with RadioTimes, Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti are clearly ready to return should the opportunity arise. "All we need is an incredible script," Samberg said, adding that's there's a lot of different directions the potential sequel could go. "I feel like even the way that the movie ends is slightly open ended, depending on your interpretation. So it could be marital bliss or it could be sort of a WandaVision situation. You’re not sure exactly where they are." Cristin Milioti added that they spoke about a Palm Springs sequel on the set quite a lot.

I remember us all joking about doing sort of a Before Sunrise thing with it, where you visit them three different times throughout their lives. So maybe we would do another one in 10 years and see what’s happened to them.

Milioti continued: "But what I also love about the ending is, in my opinion, the ending is quite ambiguous. I know I have a very different idea of how it ends than Andy Samberg and from [writer] Andy Siara and [director] Max [Barbakow]; the four of us have entirely different ideas for it, which I love. So I guess we’d all have to get on the same page for a sequel." Will a sequel to Palm Springs happen? Who knows, but is it something you'd like to see or should the first film be left to stand alone?
