"Be careful how you judge people, most of all friends. You don't sum up a man's life in one moment."
Woof. I don't imagine that Al Pacino will be happy when he hears about this. According to Rotten Tomatoes, critics are calling for Pacino's latest movie HANGMAN to be sent to the gallows, as the film has garnered a rare zero score after a total of nine reviews posted since November 27th.
In the film, Pacino plays Detective Archer, a homicide investigator who partners with a criminal profiler to catch a serial killer whose crimes are inspired by the word game – hangman. As uninspired as that sounds, the movie's failings appear to stretch beyond that of the killer's eye-rolling modus operandi. Christie Davies, Karl Urban Sarah Shahi, Chelle Ramos also appear in the film, with Joe Anderson stepping onto the scene as the Hangman killer.
For now, HANGMAN is eligible for a seat at the loser's table with Adam Sandler's THE RIDICULOUS SIX, THE NUTCRACKER IN 3D, and the SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER sequel, STAYING ALIVE – which have all received a score of zero for their epic suckatude.
While I can't vouch for HANGMAN myself, it's important to note that we're still in the early days of the film's reviewing process. What I'm implying is that it's entirely possible for HANGMAN to be pardoned from being labeled a complete critical failure, should someone be willing to loosen the noose that's currently choking the life out of director Johnny Martin's crime thriller.
