It looks like Ozark fans were really excited to see how the show would wrap up its run. Nielsen’s newly released Top 10 rankings have been made public and the Netflix series not only topped the chart but Part 2 of the show’s final season was watched for 2.6 billion minutes in its first three days.
Per Nielsen, via Variety, Ozark was watched for 2.6 billion minutes between April 25 and May, which allowed the show to rank at No.1 for that time period. Making the feat even more impressive is that the fourth and final season debuted on the streamer on April 29, which means it was only available for the final three days of the viewing window to rank on the chart.
Ozark has been a hit on Netflix since debuting in 2017. According to Nielsen, this is the show’s 18th week with over a billion minutes viewed since they began measuring streaming viewership. Ozark had a strong three days and it looks even more robust when you notice that the second-place series, the animated preschool program Cocomelon, registered 767 million minutes watched during the same time period. That’s an impressive figure but a considerable gap between Ozark’s finale numbers.
Ozark followed a financial advisor that drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss. The show has received high praise across its four-season run and it has received a total of thirty-two Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including two for Outstanding Drama Series. Star Jason Bateman won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2019 while his co-star, Julia Garner, won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series twice consecutively in 2019 and 2020. In addition to Bateman and Garder, the series also stars Laura Linney, who has also been Emmy and SAG nominated for her role on the show.
