Tuppence Middleton (Sense8) takes the lead in a four-part ITV adaptation of author Louise Candlish's best-selling "real estate thriller" novel Our House (buy a copy HERE), which is now filming in London. Middleton is joined in the cast by Martin Compston (Line of Duty), Rupert Penry-Jones (The Drowning), Buket Komur (Honour), and Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You).
Our House centers on
Fi Lawson (Middleton), who arrives home one day to find a family of strangers moving into her house and her husband, Bram (Compston), has disappeared. As the nightmare takes grip, both Bram and Fi try to make sense of the events that led to a devastating crime and how they each are going to survive the chilling truth.
Candlish's novel has the following description:
FOR BETTER, FOR WORSE.
When Fi Lawson arrives home to find strangers moving into her house, she is plunged into terror and confusion. She and her husband Bram have owned their home on Trinity Avenue for years and have no intention of selling. How can this other family possibly think the house is theirs? And why has Bram disappeared when she needs him most?FOR RICHER, FOR POORER.
Bram has made a catastrophic mistake and now he is paying. Unable to see his wife, his children or his home, he has nothing left but to settle scores. As the nightmare takes grip, both Bram and Fi try to make sense of the events that led to a devastating crime. What has he hidden from her – and what has she hidden from him? And will either survive the chilling truth – that there are far worse things you can lose than your house?TILL DEATH US DO PART.
Penry-Jones is playing "the enigmatic Toby, who is in a relationship with Fi"; Komur's character is "Bram's new partner, the mysterious and alluring Wendy"; and Opia's character is Fi's best friend.
Compston described the scripts as "genuinely thrilling", while Penry-Jones said Our House will be "a TV thriller that will subvert all expectations." Middleton added,
What struck me about Our House is its immense relatability; it’s a story where you catch a glimpse of yourself in the characters, and you get the chilling realisation that what happens to Fi could happen to anyone."
Our House was scripted by Simon Ashdown and Sheree Folkson is the lead director. Produced by Red Planet Pictures and Tom Mullens, the show has Red Planet's Belinda Campbell as executive producer. The series was commissioned by ITV drama chief Polly Hill.
I read the synopses and the character descriptions and I still don't know what's going on in this story, but it sounds like it could be an interesting thriller.
