Any pairing that involves Mark Wahlberg is usually excellent. So how will a pairing with Will Ferrell go? I guess we’re soon to find out.
Filming began today in New York for THE OTHER GUYS, which is being directed by Adam McKay. It was also written by McKay and Chris Henchy, who was a writer on the LAND OF THE LOST movie. If you haven’t heard about GUYS the story goes something like this: Ferrell plays detective Allen Gamble, who is a forensic accountant. His partner is Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) who has been stuck with Gamble ever since an accident with his quick trigger finger got him in a bit of trouble. Hoitz is ready to get back in the game but Gamble could care less, but when they get a chance to step up for the city cops they idolize, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) things get a little out of hand.
Does this sound good to you guys? McKay usually writes the idiotic comedies I adore that everyone else usually doesn’t. He had a pretty funny comment on filming with Ferrell and Wahlberg, “Though Will and I no longer speak, I still love making movies with him. Will it be tense on set? Absolutely. But fortunately Mark Wahlberg and I have formed a friendship based on our mutual problems with Will. So that’s good.”
GUYS also stars Michael Keaton, Eva Mendes, Steve Coogan, Ray Stevenson (the other Punisher), and Rob Riggle.
