The Tracking Board has learned that Oscar Isaac will reteam with his EX MACHINA director Alex Garland for ANNIHILATION, a big screen adaptation of the first novel in author Jeff VanderMeer's "Southern Reach" trilogy. Isaac joins the previously cast Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson and Gina Rodriguez, and although there's no word on his role in the film, the actor will probably be playing the husband to Portman's character.
The sci-fi thriller will follow "a biologist (Portman) who, in seeking answers to her husband’s tragic disappearance, volunteers for a government expedition into an area sealed off as an environmental disaster zone. What she discovers, however, is pristine wilderness, and a mysterious dark force within it."
A release date hasn't been announced yet for ANNIHILATION, however it will more than likely open sometime next year since filming is expected to kick off this spring.
Isaac can be seen next as the titular villain in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, which will arrive in theaters on May 27, 2016.
