The Addams Family has been laying dormant for quite some time, but at long last, the delightfully morbid family will be returning to the big-screen. MGM got the ball rolling on the animated feature in the wake of the cancellation of Tim Burton's stop-motion Addams Family and set Conrad Vernon (SAUSAGE PARTY) to direct. Now, the voice-cast is beginning to come together as The Tracking Board is reporting that Oscar Isaac (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) is in negotiations to voice Gomez Addams.
Fans have long demanded that Oscar Isaac portray the Addams family patriarch, so this news should leave more than a few of them quite satisfied. There's no word on who might voice the rest of the family, but The Tracking Board claims that MGM is "waiting to close its deal with Isaac first before moving on to the rest of the family." Created by cartoonist Charles Addams in the late 1930's, the Addams Family consists of Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, close family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama, their butler Lurch, the disembodied hand Thing, and Gomez's Cousin Itt. Many adaptations followed, including several TV series, both live-action and animated, as well as a series of feature-films, but it's been nearly twenty years since the last major Addams Family project. Well overdue for a comeback, I'd say. THE ADDAMS FAMILY will be scripted by Pamela Pettler (CORPSE BRIDE).
Any suggestions for the rest of the voice-cast?
Oscar Isaac will next be seen in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI which is…now playing in theaters! What are you waiting for?! Off to the theater with you!
