We've got good news for all of you Stephen King fans out there as Deadline is reporting that Isabelle Fuhrman, who played memorable baddies in both THE HUNGER GAMES and ORPHAN, has landed the female lead opposite Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack in THE CELL. She will be playing the lead role of Alice in the long-awaited adaptation of King's novel.
I've read a decent chunk of King's novels, but I haven't gotten to CELL just yet so I don't entirely know what to expect from this one. I do like the premise though, and the cast is shaping up quite nicely so if anything it looks to be in capable hands so far. The one thing is that you just never know what you're going to get from a Stephen King adaptation. We've seen brilliant stories of his retold on the big screen—with a lot of bad ones in between—so we'll just have to wait and see how this one turns out!
When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users’ minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected “phoners.”
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 helmer Tod Williams is directing a script by King and Adam Alleca, the latter of whom scripted LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT.
