I have a difficult relationship with Ryan Murphy's (AMERICAN HORROR STORY) slasher-comedy series SCREAM QUEENS. I loved the first season with all my heart… until the final episode hit and ruined it all with a truly terrible finale. Sure I watched season 2 and enjoyed bits and pieces here and there, but I think by that point the series was all but ruined in my eyes. And so today's news divides me.
We already let you know in the past that Murphy is playing around with the idea of rebooting the short-lived series and is currently toying around with the idea of either rebooting the show as a six-episode limited series or a catch-up movie. And today he lets us know that the original cast including Emma Roberts, Lea Michelle, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd are all in for it.
Murphy says:
I would have to say that the answer to that lies in the studio who made it. Obviously I work for Netflix now, but if I could do anything to bring it back. Emma said she would do it, Lea Michelle said she would do it, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd are all in. So it would depend if Fox wants to do it. I think we’d all do it. I think we’re waiting for them to call us. I know the show is very popular and had a real spike in popularity on Hulu. That was another one when we were making it; I don’t know if time has caught up to it, or it takes a while for people to get things, but yes, I’d be up for it. The fans should write Fox and say they want this, Fox Studios and the network.
So which would you rather see (if either) a six-episode limited series or a SCREAM QUEENS "catch-up" movie? Let us know below!
Meanwhile, here's the synopsis for season 2:
The girls of Kappa Tau have left the hallowed halls of Wallace University behind in favor of another institution, this one with a medical bent. Having moved past the events at their sorority house, the remaining Chanels and Zayday have begun training to be physicians in a hospital recently acquired by Cathy Munsch, their former dean, where they are joined by Chad Radwell, and a couple handsome new faces — secretive head surgeon Dr. Brock Holt and Dr. Cassidy Cascade, who suffers from a strange medical condition. As strange things start happening around the hospital, the former Wallace students reunite with intrepid investigator Denise Hemphill.
SCREAM QUEENS was written and created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan and starred Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels, Glen Powell, Diego Boneta, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Oliver Hudson, Nasim Pedrad, Billie Lourd, Niecy Nash, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Kirstie Alley, Taylor Lautner, John Stamos, Jerry O'Connell, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Dean Munsch.
