NBC has decided to not move forward with the second season of their series Ordinary Joe, as the series has been officially canceled. Per Deadline, the news of the cancellation comes a little over a month after its season one finale aired.

Written by Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner, Ordinary Joe explored the three parallel lives of the show’s main character (James Wolk) after he makes a pivotal choice at a crossroads in his life. The show asked the question of how different life might look if you made your decisions based on love, loyalty, or passion. The series also stars Natalie Martinez, Elizabeth Lail, Charlie Barnett, John Gluck, David Warshofsky, and Anne Ramsay.

Ordinary Joe received mixed reviews from critics, with the series scoring a rotten 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was given credit for its appealing start and smart premise but most critics didn’t think the series could sustain its hook for multiple seasons. The show also ranked as NBC’s lowest-rated drama of the season, averaging 3.3 million total viewers and a 0.5 in the key 18-49 demo. Garrett Lerner had this to say when he learned about the cancellation of the series:

Are YOU sad to see Ordinary Joe canceled after only one season? Maybe not, as odds are low you’re one of the few people who watched it.
