Admittedly it's been quite a while since I last read Madeleine L'Engle "A Wrinkle in Time" (elementary school), but I recall quite enjoying it. The acclaimed novel "revolves around a young girl whose father, a government scientist, has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a tesseract, which involves being transported to a fifth dimension with mysterious inhabited planets." SELMA director Ava DuVernay signed on to direct the film for Disney earlier this year and now it seems that she's found the first member of her cast.
Oprah Winfrey is currently in final negotiations to take on a role in DuVernay's A WRINKLE IN TIME. Winfrey is set to play Mrs. Which, one of three immortal beings who can travel across time and space and helps the three main human characters on their quest. Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay have worked together before on SELMA in which Winfrey played civil rights activist Annie Lee Cooper in addition to serving as a producer. She also serves as a co-creator and executive producer on DuVernay's upcoming television series Queen Sugar which will debut on September 6, 2016 on OWN.
