Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened at Disneyland earlier this year and offered fans the opportunity to live the franchise by visiting the village of Black Spire Outpost on the wild frontier planet of Batuu. There's shops where you can buy Star Wars-themed merchandise and food, as well as the opportunity to build your very own lightsaber or droid. However, Galaxy's Edge opened with just one of its attractions ready to go – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. The six-person motion simulator ride launched guests into an interactive smuggling mission with each guest being assigned a different crew role onboard the Millennium Falcon, but that's all small potatoes compared to Galaxy's Edge next attraction.

According to Disney, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will "blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance." After being recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base, guests will find themselves captured by a First Order Star Destroyer, but with some help from heroes of the Resistance, including Poe Dameron, Finn, and BB-8, they'll "break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren." Disney has now announced that Rise of the Resistance will open at Walt Disney World Resort on December 5th, which just so happens to be Walt Disney's birthday. Although Galaxy's Edge is already up and running at Disneyland, it won't open at Walt Disney World Resort until August 29th. Once work is completed there, Disney's Imagineers will be heading back to California to finish off that park's Rise of the Resistance attraction which will open on January 17th. Here's an official poster for Rise of the Resistance:

The release of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance places it just several weeks before STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER hit theaters on December 20, 2019, bringing a close to the Skywalker saga. That is going to be one STAR WARS heavy month.
