An isolation tank is a lightless, soundproof tank inside which subjects float in salt water at skin temperature that were first used to test the effects of sensory deprivation. Such tanks are now also used for meditation and relaxation and in alternative medicine, but if you've ever seen the classic 1980 Ken Russell film ALTERED STATES then you know they can be frightening as hell to boot. Now isolation tanks will be brought to terrifying new levels as Open Road Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights to THE TANK, a thriller from writer-director Kellie Madison, according to Deadline.
Not much is known about the plot of the film at this time but we do know this:
The pic revolves around six people entering an isolation tank designed to simulate the lengthy trip to Mars.
Production is set to begin in April in Ohio. Glacier Films’ Tove Christensen, Sarik Andreasyan and Vladimir Poliakov are producing alongside Steven Schneider.
