One Shot adaptation starring Tom Cruise has been retitled to Jack Reacher

In what is clearly an attempt to establish another franchise for the one and only Tom Cruise, Paramount has scrapped the original title of ONE SHOT for its first Lee Child adaptation and changed the name to match that of the main character: JACK REACHER.  Which works just fine and was, to be fair, kind of expected anyway.

One concern expressed by fans of the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child (of which ONE SHOT is #9) is that Cruise in no way fits the physicality of Reacher as described in the books, i.e. a 6’5″, 250 pound giant of a man who routinely beats the ever loving shit out of various ne’er-do-wells.  But Child himself has fully endorsed Cruise’s casting, and when Cruise was recently and asked what “he’d be bringing to the table to compensate, he said ‘everything but the height.’”  Meanwhile the movie itself is bringing Werner Herzog to the table as its villain, which compensates for everything by being absurdly awesome.

JACK REACHER beats down cinema doors on December 21st.
