Fans awaiting the remake of ONE MISSED CALL to hit this August will have to wait even longer, as Warner Bros. announced today that the Eric Valette-directed film has been pushed back to January 4th of next year. Ah yes, the dread January release. Shows how much confidence Warner has in it’s remake of Takashi Miike’s original. Yeah, looks as though the gravy train of Japanese horror remakes is running out. But who knows, it may impress.
Starring Shannyn Sossamon and Edward Burns, ONE MISSED CALL centres on a chain of people who receive terrifying cell phone messages depicting their own final moments. Beth Raymond (Sossamon) is traumatized when she witnesses the gruesome deaths of two friends just days apart, who had received such messages. Teaming with Detective Jack Andrews, whose own sister was killed in a freak accident that bears a strange similarity to the deaths of Beth’s friends, both work feverishly to unravel the mystery behind the ominous calls.
